Linda and Mals Asian Adventure: Hampi

Hampi. We left Goa after 5 weeks, glad to get away in some ways, sad to leave some really great people behind. The first pic is our last night in Benaulim with Nick, Tree and Owen, Great company and a really good laugh. We arrived in Hampi after a hellish journey6 made worse by the fact our driver got lost and a bridge was closed which caused an extra 100km to be added to our journey. Expecting to arrive late afternoon we arrived nearer 9pm so we missed meeting up with Colin and Sue who we first met last year in Laos ! . The next morning we trudged into Hampi and looked around the bazaar. The impressive Virupaksha Temple dominates the bazaar. After walking around the temple we collected our sandals only to bump into Colin !! what a great surprise, lucky for us Sue and Colin had decided to stay on a day longer so we did get our "meet-up" After a drawn out coffee and tea break and a fair bit of chatter we decided to see if we could locate the Doroji Bear Sanctuary , as our driver had no idea where this was we had to use our wits to see if we could find it. NO PROBLEM!! We even saw four Sloth Bears to boot! After seeing Colin and Sue off to their abode via the Hampi small boat ferry we headed back into Hampi for our evening meal. Next day we explored the main temple sites with renewed vigour, taking in the massive boulders, temple ruins and small coracle ferry boats.

Walking along the riverside we were able to get a real feel for the place which we both agreed was a bit special. The pictures below are a sample of what we saw and did.
