Nasik

Nasik West of Mumbai, Nasik is described in the Lonely planet as the place where you cannot walk more than a few paces without tripping over a colourful bathing Ghat or ancient temple... that being so why did it take us a whole morning to find them.. Nasik is a typical scruffy, dusty, NOISY, Indian City but once you track down the Ghat and local market it becomes a different world. The main bathing tank is supposed to be one of the most scared in India so it was strange to see locals riding around it in a motor powered boat !! Anyway the colours and intensive activity around the ghats and markets were indeed quite amazing. Apart from the compact market and ghat area Nasik is instantly forgettable. Nasik is also situated halfway between Mumbai and Aurangabad which was our next stop so all in all it was worth the 2 night stop over.
