Chandigargh was a real pleasant change, a city created from scratch in the 50s' a bit like Milton Keynes without the concrete cows ( they have real ones here ! ) the main reason the visit here was to see the Nek Chand Fantasy Rock Garden which we have blogged previously ) From Chandigargh we went out on a few day trips ( walking and local buses ) to The huge man made lake and the Pinjore Gardens about 20 km away.
MumbaiDeciding that the train was going to take too long we took a cheapskate option and flew to Mumbai. Initially we thought this could be hell but in fact Mumbai was OK.
We did the usual tourist stuff, Ghandis house, India gate, the Dhobi Ghat where half the world seems to have its washing done, a few temples and finishing up with a boat ride to Elephanta island.
