The Nek Chand Fantasy Rock Garden

This Blog is entirely of the Nek Chand Fantasy rock garden in Chandigargh. A one man marvel. Nek Chand arrived in India in the 50's as a refugee from Pakistan. He was working on the new development Town of Chandigargh as a road ways inspector and was appalled at the waste that was being generated so he collected tons of the stuff and took them to his forest retreat on the outskirts of the Chandigargh development. It was here in secret that he created thousands of images from the waste material and started what was to become the fantasy rock garden. 15 years later a survey team stumbled upon his montage of sculptures and as it was on government land they were deemed illegal, luckily someone saw sense and allowed them to stay, the local authorities even gave Nek Chand an income and 50 labourers to continue with his work.
Today it's India's 2nd most visited attraction after the Taj Mahal, over 5000 visitors a day and it only costs 10 rupees to get in !! FANTASTIC. now here's the pictures.
