Ellora Caves.

Ellora caves. The Ellora caves are some 30km North of Aurangabad, they are a complex of 34 Jain, Hindu and Buddhist caves and takes a good day to explore. On this day we went via a shared taxi with Brendan, a nice guy from New Zealand we had met in Nasik. The caves are truly impressive and the carvings varied in size and content. Most tourists and locals do not get to see the upper reaches as these require a bit of leg work and the path is not well marked. We think that the upper reaches although not as spectacular as the main cave complex were in fact the best as we were the only people there !! so quiet and peacefull and a few small tumbling waterfalls beside. The pictures below are from all over the Ellora cave complex. Including the cave where Linda fell and broke her wrist. Yes and it did take all day to go around the entire 4km site.
