Aihole and Pattadakal

Aihole & Pattadakal.
Both Pattadakal and Aihole are ancient Chalukyan sities. Pattadakal lies about 22km from Badami, the town today is a mess and if it wasn't for the ancient sites and ruins it would have no appeal what so ever, the same too can be said of Aihole.

The main temple complex of Pattadakal comprises of four large Chalukyan temples situated in manicured lawns and gardens. Aihole is 44km from Badami and has 3 main temples in a small complex called the Durga temples. For people with an interest in archeology this is something of a mecca but in all truth to us plebs it was just a few more ancient ruins.
