Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After another "interesting journey" we arrived in Hyderabad mostly under our own navigation !. One of the main reasons for coming to Hyderabad was to meet up with some old work mates, Subrat and Abrar. After 99 days of sun and dry weather it rained ! yep day 100 and it chucked it down, the next two days in Hyderabad were a bit dull as a result. We visited the Lumbini Park and took a small boat to the 17.5mt height 350 tonne Buddha statue in the centre of the Hussain Sager ( lake), there is an amusing story to this, while ferrying the statue into place the boat sank along with the Buddha, it was two years later when it was salvaged and re-sited to its proper place. We also had Linda's plaster cast removed but as there was a general holiday we couldn't get an X-Ray till the following day !. Horray the x-ray shows it's mended. After our 2nd visit to the Hospital we tried to see the Birla Mandir ... but as it was a solar eclipse it was closed. can you see a trend here? so we walked to the NVT Gardens instead. That night we met up with Abrar and Subrat and had a fantastic night out, thanks Subrat for your generosity. Next day we hit the sights with some urgency, first we went to the amazing Tombs of the Shahi Kings, a collection of huge Mausoleums, after that we went to Golconda Fort and then onto Chowmahalla Palace, another impressive slice of Architecture. To end the day we stopped off at Hyderabads premier tourist hot spot the Charminar, a four towered tower slap bang in the middle of the busy bazaar.
