Jodhpur: A hot and bumpy bus journey ( only 6 1/2 hours ) from Udaipur to Jodhpur, managed to find some cheap but slightly noisy accommodation, the beds were a little softer than Granite, so we had to move on to another place today where the beds are only slightly softer..
Accommodation is getting cheaper and we are now getting near to our 10 pounds a day budget ( that's for both of us ! ) the latest place has hot water, private bath room all for 250 rupees a night ( about three pound thirty pence ) Jodhpur is a very polluted city, the morning smog hangs over the city for quite some time. The main attraction of Jodhpur is the Meherangarh Fort ( yes another fort ) This like some of the others sits atop a rocky outcrop 125mt above the city, allowing for fine views of the city smog. The Fort is impressive and a day here is well spent ( they even have a cafe where you can get egg and chips :-) )

Local Rajasthani keepin a watch on those tourists.

Fort Ramparts and Linda.

Walking up through the town to the fort a spiral of vultures circling above the recently expired corpse of a tourist, we eventually wend our way to the silky white marble palace of Jaswant Thada. It's well worth the effort, virtually no toursists and its very quiet and peaceful, apart from the 35 degree heat its superb.
