Bundi & Diwali ( the festival of light )

Bundi has the reputation of being slightly more chilled than many Indian towns so its just the right place for an extended stay.
As you come into Bundi the first thing you see is the huge Bundi Palace and fort ramparts, the Palace was until recently left to decay but a team of preservationists have been hard at work to halt any further erosion of this huge building complex. It's a 10 minute walk from our Havleli to the palace gates. Inside it's decay is obvious, the preservation work has started at a crucial time.
From the Palace there is a steep scrubby path up to the fort and ramparts, its wise to take a stick as there are armies of marauding macaques on the prowl and its handy to have something to fend the aggressive ones away with. From the ramparts there are impressive views of Bundi and the Palace below. The descent is by another steep narrow path into Bundi.

A few days ago was Diwali ( festival of light ) which we celebrated with our adopted Indian Family, the fireworks went on for two days! The Scenery around Bundi is beautiful with lakes and waterfalls.

Below is a selection of Bundi Pictures, Blogger is playing up and any formatting keeps getting lost so apologies for the apparent mish- mash appearance of this blog, will look for a better blog site soon.
